Summary

Those Who Hunt Elves is a 12 episode series that chronicles the journey of three travelers; Airi, an alluring and talented actress, Ritsuko, a gun-toting, sharpshooting, uniformed school girl, and Junpei, a muscle-bound, curry loving kung-fu fighter. Sound silly already? Those are just the characters! Once they get into the story, things go spiraling out of control! Oh yeah, there's Celcia, a sorceress who turns herself into a talking dog too. :-)

The story (if you can really call it that) is that the three wayward travelers have to find spell fragments located on the bodies of several elves throughout the new world in order to be able to go home to...where else? Japan! How are they going to find these spell fragments you ask? Why you have to strip the elves naked of course! ;-)

What I like about this series:

Some may call it lowbrow humor, but I think that most of the jokes and funny situations in this anime are just HILARIOUS! There is something some of the episodes to get you laughing so hard you'll end up crying! (This happened to me once! ^_^) Watch the episode "Catch Me in a Field of Flowers" and the one right after it to know what I mean! 

To sum it all up, I like this series because it's so gosh darned FUNNY! :-)

What I don't like about this series:

Since I'm a girl myself, the whole stripping of elves thing (who all seem to be female for some reason) is funny once in a while, but otherwise, the humor of that part is just lost on me. Do guys find nudity funny? The way the characters get to that situation is funny, I admit. :-)

The story doesn't make much sense! For a series with random jokes and pratfalls, the story seems pretty random too. A lot of things aren't explained in much detail, (such as background info on characters, reasons for why they were chosen...etc.) but then again, how else are you going to fit all of that into 12 episodes? There should be more of this series, and when Those Who Hunt Elves 2 comes out in the States, guess who will be the first to watch it?

The Ami Rating :

You may notice that I give this rating quite often. Wanna know why? I think all anime is good in some way! It's a rare case for me to watch an anime I don't get hooked on! Anyway, I give this anime this rating because it's too funny to pass up! Even people not even remotely interested in anime will crack up at the jokes in Those Who Hunt Elves, especially in that episode, "Catch Me in a Field of Flowers." (Watch it now!) This is a great anime to watch with a group of friends, so you can all laugh together. Sure, you can laugh at it by yourself (like me) but don't you feel a little silly doing it? I sure do... Go watch Sailor Moon for more laughs! yeah!
