MOONSPELLS
I stepped through misted vapor of a dream to
stand on velvet folds of fantasy
     sipping wine,
          glowing garnet,
caressed by a breeze of Autumn spice
And I thought. . . .
     I have been here before.

  The Art Work of
Karen Emerald Reeder
Secret
Karen Emerald Reeder
The above lines illustrate the feelings many people experience when viewing the works of Karen Emerald Reeder.  "I want the viewer to be moved in some way, whether intrigued or revolted. . . I want to evoke an emotion."
Ms. Reeder was one of the first artists to explore the medium of colored pencil.  Since 1975, she has developed techniques of using the colors similar to the methods of the Italian Masters.  Her painting achieve a rich depth of jewel-like color.  The subjects draw you in and open your mind to a world of sensuous make-believe.
When looking at her work, the viewer is moved somewhere in the sub-conscience by the haunting quality of a special memory, a lost mood, or the tantalizing fringes of a dream.
