Buffy and the gang are in a graveyard fighting vampires when they decide they can't fight them all. They leave and go to Jonathan's mansion, where they ask for his help. At Giles' house, we discover that Jonathan's intelligent and quick at fighting, Buffy can't even beat him. They come up with a plan and leave for the crypt. At the crypt, Buffy kills two vamps, and Jonathan comes crashing down from the window above killing the rest. At Riley's Buffy and Riley have some tension between them. Buffy freaks out and leave.
The next day at the Espresso Pump Jonathan and Buffy are talking about Riley and Faith's actions. A fan named Karen comes up and asks for an autograph, and Jonathan tells Buffy that she's angry at Riley more than Faith, and that she has to let go of that anger before she gets close again. At the Initiative, Jono is called in to explain how to kill Adam. He says that Adam has to be totally annihilated in order to be destroyed. After the meeting, Jonathan talks to Riley about how he should tell Buffy that he cares for her and no one else.
That night, Karen is outside Jonathan's Mansion spying when she gets attacked by a demon. She manages to get away. At the bronze Jonathan is singing while Buffy and Riley dance. They apologize, and Karen shows up all bruised and cut, and Jonathan comes and asks what happened. She explains at the mansion and gives Jonathan the symbol on the demon's head. Jonathan says that the demon is harmless and that the symbol and the demon doesn't matter anymore. Buffy senses something more but they leave. Jonathan takes off his robe, revealing the symbol on his shoulder.
In an Initiative lab, Adam and a vampire are talking about Jonathan. Adam says he knows that the world has been changed and Jonathan's the source and he's a fake. Tara is on her way to her room when she gets attacked by the demon. She manages to create a smoke spell and she crawls to a closet. The next day Buffy comes to Willow's dorm where she finds Willow taking care of Tara, who is seriously hurt. They find out that is was the same demon that hurt Karen. Buffy goes to Xander's place and looks at all the Jonathan stuff. She talks to Anya and they discuss alternate universes. Later at Giles' house Buffy talks about the possibility that Jonathan is a fake. No one supports her idea except Riley. Buffy remembers seeing the mark on Jonathan in the Jonathan swimsuit calendar. Jonathan shows up and explains that it's there to remind him never underestimate the demon. Buffy doesn't believe him and she suggest hunting the demon. She and Jonathan go search for him, and find Spike, who gives them information.
While researching, Willow find out that he did a spell to make it look like he was cool, and if that demon dies, so will the spell. Buffy and Jonathan enter the demon's cave and try to fight it. Buffy isn't as strong as she is regularly, but because of the spell, she is weaker and Jonathan is stronger. Jonathan fights the demon and the demon and Jonathan gets weaker, but Buffy gets stronger. Jonathan pushes him in the pit, and the spell reverses.
The next day at the UC Sunnydale campus, they are chatting when Buffy spots Jonathan. She goes over and tells him that everyone is mad at him for manipulating them and treating them like pawns. Later, Buffy and Riley are making out, when Buffy calls out Jonathan.
You could even make like a freaky world where Jonathan's some kind of not perfect mouth breather if that's what's blowing up your skirt these days. Just don't ask me to live there.
