Sjornjost 880- Anya's real name is Aud and her boyfriend is Olaf, (pre-troll) and they are living together in a house filled with bunnies. Aud worries about Olaf going to the bar and hitting on another woman. Olaf assures her he only loves her. Anya back in the present day washes off blood from her hands.
In Sunnydale High School's basement Spike is talking to what he thinks is Buffy. The illusion goes away when the real Buffy comes and tells him to get up. Willow sees Anya on campus and Anya lies and says she has a new boyfriend and that's why she's here. Willow notices a bloodstain and investigates the frat house after Anya leaves. She finds the bodies and a girl is whimpering in the closet while she explained that she made a wish after being humiliated about that they should know what it feels to have their hearts ripped out. A gigantic spider jumps at them but Willow sends it flying out the window, her eyes black. She yells at the girl to stop whimpering.
Sjornjost 880- Aud turns Olaf into a troll after cheating. D'Hoffryn appears and says he's offering a job as a vengeance demon.
Willow calls Buffy about the dead men. Hallie congratulates Anya about being back on the vengeance track. Anya says she feels bad, and Willow appears ordering Hallie out and says she needs to stop. Xander and Buffy head out in the woods in search of the spider. It attacks them but Buffy throws it off and it goes into a tree. Buffy throws her axe up into the air and the spider falls and dies. They return home and they discover Anya summoned it, and Buffy realizes that she has to kill Anya.
St. Petersburg 1905- Hallie and Anya celebrate Anya's recent vengeance wish and Anya says that she doesn't need anything except vengeance.
Xander tries to convince Buffy there has to be another way while Buffy tells him that she had to kill Angel even though she loved him and that she had to. She mentions Willow's message "Kick his ass." Willow says she never said that. Buffy says she is the law and leaves with a sword while Xander looks for another way and Willow summons D'Hoffryn upstairs. D'Hoffryn is pleased about Willow killing Warren but she says that's not the topic of discussion.
Xander finds Anya at the frat house and tries to talk. Buffy appears and Anya and Buffy start fighting. Anya looks like she's winning and slams Buffy into a wall, but Buffy stabs Anya through the chest. As Anya closes her eyes she flashes back to when Sweet made everyone sing and she sings about becoming Xander's wife. Anya snaps back to reality and pulls the sword out from her chest. They continue fighting when D'Hoffryn appears. Anya says she takes the wish back, and D'Hoffryn explains that he needs the life and soul of a vengeance demon. She accepts his needs but D'Hoffryn makes Hallie appears and takes Hallie's life instead. He says he goes for the pain, and says "From Beneath You It Devours." Anya leaves the house closely followed by Xander. She insists on being alone and she worries about being no one.
Anya
Willow starts studying at UC Sunnydale again.
D'Hoffryn kills Halfrek so Anya will become human again.
Willow and Buffy discovers Xander didn't deliver Willow's true message to Buffy in Becoming Part 2.

Joss Whedon wrote Anya's song, "Mrs." overnight.
The language in which Anya and Olaf speak is Swedish. The crew origanally dubbed it, but liked the regular version better.
Sarah Michelle Gellar had only three days to film this episode because it was the week that she was getting married.
Drew Goddard wrote another line for D'Hoffryn's "It looks like someone slaughtered an Abercrombie and Fitch catalouge," after the network didn't approve of it. He wrote" Looks like Maxim just lost 15 subsciptions." The network eventually accepted the first line.
Anya askes Buffy if there isn't a friend of her's she hasn't tried to kill. Buffy has tried to kill Xander, Willow, Dawn, Tara, Angel, Spike, and Faith.
