Corienne Damodred, Sword of the Flame
Corienne Damodred grew up in Cairhein as
a part of the noble Damodred family. She
also grew up in the shadow of Moiraine, Azalyn,
and Asymla Sedai, three great women who went
to the Tower in Tar Valon. Corienne's mother
made an effort of telling the young girl
that she was a disgrace for her inablity
to be as great as these three women. Her
resentment grew for her family and her mother,
but not the three Aes Sedai. She had never
met them and respected each for their legacies
and there ability to turn away from the family.
Corienne's only solace in her childhood was
with Daen, a soldier. Daen taught the girl
a way to feel better about herself through
swordplay and weapon forms. Corienne took
to it like a fish to water and learned with
a focused mind. She put all of her unwanted
emotional energy into the positive force
of learning her weapon.
On her sixteenth namingday, Corienne's mother
found out about the sword lessons and fired
Daen and sent him away. Corienne was furious.
She denounced her mother and packed her bags
to leave. Her mother had her imprisoned for
her supposed insolence. One of the guards
that Corienne practiced with helped her escape.
Now Corienne, like the three before her,
has come to the Tower to train, but not as
Aes Sedai. Corienne wished to be a warder.
She became Warder in a relatively short time
period and quickly was bonded by the Amyrlin.
