Number of Riders: 17

Although the ride time temperature was a respectable 54 degrees, the weather felt a bit chilly all of the same. The route chosen for the evening was the out and back on Highway 102 to Highway 86. The group would make the turn to the north on the big curve east of County Highway C and spot four riders in the distance. Those riders consisted of Scott Broman, Gary drill here, drill now, Krueger, Gary Thums, and Mike Wudi. At the Spirit Lake hill the customary dash up the hill took place. The sprint up the hill would also tempt Jason to take a flyer off of the front (next year we are going to disconnect Jasons front derailleur cable to ensure he stays in the small ring). Jason would later sit up and the group would come back together. At the first hill on the return to Rib Lake the group would split up for good. Off of the front were Jason, Vicki, John and Joe. Bryan and the Harris-Harris tandem were in hot pursuit. Vicki would later be dropped from the lead group and be swept up by Bryan and the Harris-Harris tandem. Joe Coyle made an attempt at trying to enforce the small chain ring rule upon his fellow lead group partners. They would have nothing to do with small rings and the group stayed away. Many riders complained of cold tuties (feet) after the ride. After the ride the group enjoyed several pitchers of respectable Killians Red and all four pizzas the Frosted Mug had on hand were consumed. The food and refreshment bill was $49 and we left a generous $6 tip. A discussion of how much money to throw into the post ride kitty took place. The consensus appears to be that $3 is not enough money (that is what we were throwing in when I first started riding in 1991 said Bryan) and that at least $4 should be the going rate. This would be especially true for rides out of peoples homes.
