Ride Report July 9, 2008
Submitted by Paula
We had 13 riders + John at the end. The best part was a special appearance by Ken Kraft - everyone was pretty happy to see him. We took the back roads from our house to northwest of Chelsea - lots of hills and curves. It's one of the training routes I use for inline skating - ended up to be 34.5 miles. Hope to see you guys next week.

We had 13 riders on hand for the July 9 ride in Medford on a beautiful night for biking. Riders showing up for the evening's fun were our host Paula Liske, Mindy, Tom, Katrina, Brian Voight, Rick, Ken Jones, Ken Kraft, Jason, Nathan, Bryan, Mark and Kathy Temme.
Paula was our road captain for the evening and suggested that we ride north to Fawn Avenue which is off of Fisher Creek Road north of Chelsea. The ride distance ended up at 36 miles on the evening.
The group split into two packs on the way up to Fawn Avenue. The main group out front was followed by Ken, Ken, and Bryan. Ken and Bryan were treated to the latest real to life exploits of Ken Kraft. Ken also divulged where he got the "I Love Chubby's" sticker he was sporting on his helmet.
After parting company with Ken Kraft at the old Mahner farm on Settlement Drive, Ken Jones and Bryan set out to catch the main group. The main Group was caught just after they had turned around on Fawn Avenue.
The group maintained a brisk but not warp speed pace to the corner of Cemetery and Settlement Drive. It was here that a sizable hill split up the group. Jason and ken were off of the front with Bryan in pursuit.
As the group rocketed down Settlement Drive Bryan looked behind him expecting to see Ken Jones. However it was the Harris/Harris tandem in tow.
The three some stayed together at the base of Brunner's Hill, the last hill before the flat finish on County Highway Q. Bryan launched a brutal attack on the hill hoping to put enough distance between himself, the Harris tandem and the finish line. The Harris tandem recovered on the flat stretch to take the sprint with Bryan second and Jason in third.
