Ride Report July 2, 2008
Phillips - Hidden Vally Resort - The home of Trish and Jeff Kempkes

A large group showed up for the inaugural ride from beautiful Hidden Valley Resort. In attendance were regulars; Bryan, Todd and Julie, Marc and Megan, Shayne and Vickie, Mindy, Paula, Jeff, Joe and John. Special appearances were made by Jay Dietz, Jeff Schreier and Kyle Schmidt.

The route started west on Hwy. W, the proceeded south on Danish Settlement road where we were chased by one of our favorite Border Collies. We continued on to Carpenter Creek Road and then west on Hwy. W again. The turn around was at Hwy. M in Sawyer County.

One the way out a 25 MPH pull by Kyle and Jeff became a pretty good indicator of what was in store after the half way point. The blistering pace forced Todd and Julie to choose a slightly different route on Hwy S around Sioux Lake.

The pace accelerated after the turn around and riders were shed from the group. Kyle decided to show the group why is does so well in the WISPORT race series. I don't know the details, but I heard he turned and gave the guys "the look" and then smoked them.

The highlight of the evening (for me anyway) was the post ride meal. Jeff Kempkes prepared a very tasty meal for all. A tasty pate' for starters, Then hot from the grill he delivered Chicken kabobs, and then cheese curd and bread kabobs in an excellent oil marinade. A veggie-pasta salad and two deserts were all appreciated by those in attendance.

On a motion from the Club it was moved that Jeff be appointed the official caterer for all Phillips ride. The motion passed unanomously.

The next ride is at Paula's in Medford.
