Ride Report May 14, 2008
On a beautiful night for biking there were 9 riders on hand for the May 14 ride from the Harris home in Medford. The riders included Russ, Mindy, Brian Voight, Tom, Katrina, Bryan Bormann, Jason, Nathan, and Paula.
The winds were coming from the north so the group headed out in that direction. They rode Castle Road to County M, County M to Kluetsch Drive, Kluetsch Drive to a newly paved section of Keyes Avenue, Keyes Avenue back to County M, County M to County E, County E to the ride around the back side of Sacketts Lake, and then onto to County M to County Q.
The group stayed together until the end of the Sacketts Lake portion. The Harris-Harris tandem, Bryan, and Jason powered the group on County M to County Q.
At County Q the action started once the group climbed Hog Ranch Hill. Here the group split with Jason off of the front and the Harris-Harris tandem, Bryan, and Paula in pursuit. A concerted effort by the Harris tandem and Bryan reeled in Jason.
At the sprint it was the Harris tandem taking the win, Bryan second, and Paula third.
After the ride the Harris family served a bountiful feast of cheese, sausage, crackers, salad, cheese bread, spaghetti, and meat sauce. Paula brought a sweet, gooey, and good bar for desert. Tom demonstrated his Guitar Hero prowess. Mindy proved to be a good rookie player herself.
