Ride Report May 7, 2008
OGEMA, MAY 7 There were 13 riders on hand for the first visit to Ogema for the 2008 season. Riders were Tom, Katrina, Bryan, Paula, Mindy, Jeff, John, Joe, Nancy, Scott, Russ, Todd, and Julie.

The route ridden was the County Highway I and M route. County Highway I features gentlely rolling terrain with few corners until the later part of the ride. Also there is the scenic section where the road comes by a bend in the mighty Jump River.

At the curve on County I the group turned around and headed back for County Highway M. On M the action started as the pace picked up and Jeff Kempkes launched the first breakaway of the season. At first the group was happy to let Jeff ride off of the front. In time the group decided to reel Jeff in and a successful chase was organized.

Next the Harris/Harris tandem and John Hendricks took a flyer. The pair was staying away quite handily and it was at this point concern started to form in the group. A chase powered by Scott, Nancy, Bryan and Joe was able to reel the pair in at the junction of County O and M. With Highway 13 in sight a short time later it was John Hendricks, Nancy and Bryan in the finishing sprint.

The group enjoyed post ride refreshments at Raab's Extra Innings after the ride. Ouch, the bar tab was $75.00 The distance ridden was 30 miles, winds were out of the northwest at 10-15 MPH and sunset on the evening was 8:15 PM.
