Ride Report April 16, 2008
On what has to be the warmest night of the year so far we had 10 riders on hand for the first Medford ride of the 2008 season. Riders included Mindy Wagner, Jason Ruesch, George Blennert, Chris Davis, Paula Liske, Bryan Bormann, Katrina Harris, Mark Temme, Nathan Poe, and Kathy Temme.
Winds had moderated considerably by the time the ride left the palatial Bormann estate on Medford's upper east side. The route consisted of city streets and town roads to County Highway O. The group proceeded west on O to County E, south on E to County A, east on A to Gibson Drive, South on Gibson Drive to a hilly Apple Avenue. From Apple Avenue the group made it's way back into Medford on the same route it went out on. The distance was approximately 24 miles. There was no finishing sprint.
Nathan Poe wowed the group by showing up on his shiney new Specialized Roubaix. The bike is very nicely appointed with a number of Dura-Ace components.
Katrina Harris rode valiantly despite the brisk pace set by the group. This is especially true with the hilly final section on Apple Avenue with its undulating terrain. This was Katrina's first solo ride with the Club.
Todd I have the first recipe request for you to post on the web site I will send it to you separately. It's for the Cheddar Beef Enchaladas that were served.
I hope to see you again at the Rib Lake ride for the Frosted Mug on the main drag in Rib Lake. The extended forecast is looking good.
