Ride Report - July 25, 2007
Phillips, John and Lou Hendricks
Welcome to Phillips. Welcome summer. Hard to believe just 2 weeks ago we were wearing sleeves and being
quite cold.
At the Hendricks abode, a nice gathering of riders gathered in the early evening heat.
Some immediately took refuge in the shade, while Joe Coyle came sporting some fancy headware,
possibly designed to help keep cool.
The Anderson, Peterson, and Harris tandems were all in attendance tonight. This has not been
a big year for tandems, so it was good to see. Current WISPORT Yellow Jersey leader, Kyle Schmidt was on hand,
along with with Jeff, Mark, Wally, Joe, John, Todd.
We went out the traditional route from John's place, up highway F through Cloud City (Lugerville) to Hwy 70.
The hill at the fire tower is always a challenge, and gets the legs pumped up. It was a fairly quick pace
out to 70.
At the turnaround things split up as everyone headed back to the barn. One little mishap along the way, as
Wally's chain through a rivet. No chain tool handy, but cell phone on hand, help was summoned.
Back at the Hendricks house, Lou had whipped up some of her famous vittles for us all. Fried chicken,
Italian sausages cooked up with garlic and roasted red peppers, a black bean rice dish, a vegetable pasta salad,
ice cream and berries. MMMM MMMM Good! (Think Hee Haw). Many a comment was made about the golden gizzard.
Thank you John and Lou. And I can't forget, thanks for the cold towels!!
August 2 finds us at the Harris house in Medford once again. Thanks guys.
The year is winding down fast. Keep riding, enjoy the heat, and look forward to some beautiful fall days for riding.
