Ride Report - Firehouse 50 - August 4, 2007



It was a beautiful, cool morning in Grandview. Light clouds kept it nice as racers prepared for the day's events. The Flambeau Freewheelers were well represented this year. Kyle Schmidt, Bryan Bormann, George Blennert, Mark Wenzel, and Wally Wenzel all took part.

Kyle was the ironman of the club, riding both the Time Trial and the 50. Kyle finished 15th in the individual time trial with a time of 2:06:01. He finished 49th overall in the Firehouse 50 in 1:55:55. Kyle was happy to remain upright for the entire race.

Bryan finished 207th overall in a time of 2:20:24. George finished 219th in 2:20:30. That looks like it was quite a group finish! Hats off to both these guys, showing that 50 is not the end of the road.

Mark finished 251st this year in a time of 2:28:49. The only positive note about this ride was that he said, "At least I didn't let the women in this group beat me."

Wally finished his first Firehouse 50 in 313th with a time of 2:41:26. It was quite an experience, but he hung in there all the way to the end, averaging over 18mph. He was also seen riding in the company of a young woman.
