FLAMBEAU FREEWHEELERS BICYCLE CLUB

RIDE REPORT

Wednesday, August 2. As always, Ken Kraft hosted another truly enjoyable ride from his log home on County Highway M.

We had 13 riders on hand to do the road ride. Those riders were Mark and Wally Wenzel, Shayne and Caitlyn Roberts, Todd and Julie Zumach, John, Joe, Tom and Katrina, Ken Jones, George Blennert, and Bryan. The mountain biking group consisted of Ken Kraft, Buzz Meyer, Gary Czarnezki, and Ann Schield.

The road group did the out and back ride to Perkinstown. This would turn out to be "flat night" as three flat tires would be encountered on the evening. George Blennert would suffer a flat right out of the gate. The Harris-Harris tandem would be the next bike to suffer this fate. And finally Joe Coyle would be the last rider to suffer the indignity of a flat tire. Todd Zumach’s Topeak tire pump did overtime duty inflating two of the three flat tires. This pump works as a floor pump and can reach road tire pressures of 120 PSI.

Ken served up a tasty post ride meal of barbequed ribs and Cajun beans and rice. A number of riders also enjoyed one of Ken’s post ride beer selections of New Castle Brown Ale. I still have not worked up the nerve to try the crawdads.

Bryan was able to distribute the new Club jerseys to the riders in attendance. The new jerseys received rave reviews. I’d like to wrap this jersey thing up at the Phillip ride. If you have not paid for you jersey yet, please do so at the August 16 Phillips ride. The cost is $38 per jersey. You can make the check out to me.

I hope to see all of you in Rib Lake on August 9!
