FLAMBEAU FREEWHEELERS BICYCLE CLUB
RIDE REPORT
Wednesday, July 19. Mark and Kathy Temme hosted the ride from their lovely lake home on Harper Lake. The water temperature was perfect as a number of people elected to take a post ride swim. Mark, ever the gracious host, grilled up some tasty chicken breasts while the rest of us rode. Mark we salute your dedication.
We had a fine crowd of 17 riders on hand for the evening’s festivities. Riders included, Scott, Nancy, Marc and Megan Peterson, Todd, Julie, John, Joe, Mark Wenzel, Mindy, Chuck, Ken Kraft, Ken Jones, Tom, Katrina, and Bryan.
Since everyone wanted to get back to the Temme cabin and enjoy the water, we kept the ride short. The Club headed down County Highway C to Trout Avenue. However, the blacktop that was supposed to take us north back to Highway 102 was in reality Gravel. So we turned around the way we came.
A spirited sprint for the green Rib Lake sign ensued. Also a spirited fight to the top of the Harper Lake Road hill also took place.
Tour Talk
What else is there left to say about Floyd Landis? On Wednesday his Tour hopes appear to go down the tubes and then on Thursday he bounces right back like nothing happened. Also interesting was how Floyd said that he and the team manager talked over the Wednesday debacle over a beer and decided that the race was not over until it was over. I think it was the beer that did it for Floyd on Thursday.
