ROCHESTER -- A private family committal service for Lorraine M. Janssen will be Friday in Woodlawn Cemetery in Stewartville. Cremation will precede the service.
Mrs. Janssen, 80, of Rochester, formerly of Mazeppa, died Monday (May 17, 2004) at Rochester Healthcare West, where she had lived since December 2003.
Lorraine M. White was born April 26, 1924, in New Haven Township, Dunn County, Wis. As a child she moved to the Mazeppa area with her family, grew up on the family farm and attended area rural schools. In 1947, she married Merlin Lecy, and he died Nov. 24, 1951. She married Arnold Janssen on Dec. 11, 1954, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa, and he also preceded her in death. For many years she was a seamstress at Cronin-Peterson Menswear and later Anderson's Formal Wear, both in Rochester, and had also been self-employed in sewing and alterations. She enjoyed playing bingo.
Survivors include a daughter, Cynthia (Drew) Janssen of Las Vegas; three grandchildren; a sister, Elrose (Don) Stoppel of Colorado; and a brother, Marvin (Kathy) White of Mazeppa. She was preceded in death by two daughters, two sisters and three brothers.
Griffin-Gray Funeral Home in Stewartville is in charge of arrangements.

SPRING VALLEY -- The funeral for Floyd E. Lecy will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Faith United Methodist Church in Spring Valley, with the Rev. James Ross officiating. Burial will be in Spring Valley Cemetery.
Mr. Lecy, 58, of Spring Valley, a truck driver for Valley Transportation of Grand Meadow, died Tuesday (April 15, 1997) at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester.
He was born June 25, 1938, in Stewartville. He married Gerry Bennett, and they were later divorced. On July 7, 1972, he married Linda Johnson in Sioux Falls, S.D. She survives.
In addition to his wife, survivors include four sons, David, Delon and Dirk, all of Spring Valley, and Tony of Grand Meadow; three daughters, Penny (Mrs. David) Nolta, Deeannacq Lecy and Darla Lecy, all of Spring Valley; 11 grandchildren; two sisters, Lorraine (Mrs. Don) Christopherson of Wheaton, Ill., and Lottie Kingsbury of Red Wing; and a brother, Duane of Chatfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter and a sister.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hindt-Hutchins Funeral Home in Spring Valley and an hour before the service Friday at the church.@et

The funeral for Arnold J. Janssen will be 11 a.m. Monday at Ranfranz Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Janssen, 73, of Minneapolis, a retired truck driver formerly of Rochester, died Thursday (March 20, 1997) at Minnesota Veterans Home in Minneapolis.
Born Sept. 16, 1923, in Ogden, Iowa, he grew up in Waltham, Minn., and later moved to Rochester. He married Lorraine White Lecy and they were later divorced. Mr. Janssen was a truck for Allied Van Lines until his retirement. He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of the American Legion.
Survivors include two daughters, Doreen Lecy and Cindy Janssen, both of Rochester; and three grandchildren. A daughter and a brother preceded him in death.

STEWARTVILLE -- The funeral for Thea Lecy Barnhart will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Stewartville, with the Rev. Ron Allen officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Stewartville.
Mrs. Barnhart, 80, a longtime Stewartville resident, died this morning (July 1, 2002) at Stewartville Care Center following a short illness with cancer.
Thea Irene Bakken was born Sept. 25, 1921, in Stewartville, grew up in the area and attended Stewartville schools. On July 29, 1941, she married Arlo Lecy in Stewartville. He preceded her in death. She married Lee Barnhart Oct. 3, 1969, in Iowa. He also preceded her in death. She lived in Stewartville during both of her marriages. She was a waitress at Tarsilla's Cafe, worked at Stewartville Bakery and then was employed at Boyum Foods until her retirement. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Survivors include a stepson, Merle Barnhart of Red Wing; five stepdaughters, Judy (William) Hilleshien of Red Wing, Donna Barnhart of Rochester, Linda (Pike) Simes of Venice, Fla., Leila (Steve) Ostegard of Shannon, Ill., and Dolly (Gary) Glendinning of Smyrna, Ga.; two grandchildren; 21 stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; 38 stepgreat-grandchildren; two stepgreat-great-grandchildren; five sisters, Lillian (Con) Ringey, Delores (Wayne) Zink and Betty Lou (Tom) Sexton, all of Stewartville, and Marion (Bill) Sexton and Myrtle Gunderson, both of Rochester; and two brothers, Donald (Merideth) Bakken of Stewartville and Gerald Bakken of Big Fork, Minn. She was preceded in death by a son, a brother and a sister.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Griffin-Gray Funeral Home in Stewartville and an hour before the service Wednesday at the church."

RED WING -- The funeral for James L. Kingsbury, husband of former Stewartville resident Lottie Lecy Kingsbury, will be at 11 a.m. Monday in United Lutheran Church in Red Wing with the Rev. Randall Johnson officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Red Wing.
Mr. Kingsbury, 58, of Red Wing, died Friday (Dec. 20, 1996) at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.
Born on Sept. 16, 1938 in Tripoli, Iowa, he went to school in that area. He served in the U.S. Army and the Army Reserve from 1957-1963. Mr. Kingsbury married Lottie Lecy on May 19, 1962, in Stewartville. The couple moved to Red Wing in 1964 and have lived there since. He had worked at S.B. Foot Tanning Co. in Red Wing since 1963. He was sergeant-at-arms for Leo C. Peterson American Legion Post 54 in Red Wing, worked with the grounds crew for Red Wing Amateur Baseball Association and was a member of Mississippi National Golf Links. He enjoyed golf and other sports.
Survivors include his wife; a son Doug of Red Wing; two daughters, Colleen Moorman of Red Wing and Lisa (Mrs. Donnie) Siepelmeyer of Hager City, Wis.; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Johnson Funeral Home in Red Wing and one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.
