Upper Nigervolta

Anti-Government Oragnisations

Logone Empire (1970-1973) and Usztra Logoneska

State Flag, 1970-1973, subsequently flag of the Usztra Logoneska. In the easternmost region of Upper Volta (Chad *here*), there has been constant civil unrest since the 1970s. This started in early 1970, when the southern part of the region declared independence as the Logone Empire. The Logone Empire fell to Voltan government forces in 1973, but the Logone have continued their struggle ever since, still using the name Usztra Logoneska (Logonese Army). The capital of the Logone Empire was Mundu.

SAN - Silele Armate Nordeske

In the northern part of the easternmost area of Upper Volta operates a band called Silele Armate Nordeske (Northern Armed Forces). The SAN operates primarily in the area around the towns of Aozu, Barday and Zuar.

FROLINACZ

The easternmost area, near the border with Egypt (the area centred on the cities of Abesze and Biltine) is the stronghold of FROLINACZ (Fronta da Liaraciun Nacionalu da Czad, Chad National Liberation Front), though they are known to have cells in the towns of Am Timan, Mongo and Um Haxher. This is the FROLINACZ flag, and also the proposed flag for the state of Chad.
