Turn and Twist

Turn and twist,
shaking around some other
youth
with your husky voice
meant for dark nights
and your curtained eyes
built for winking--
slowly.

Turn and twist,
quickly moving
under
the protection
of paper and pen,
using both to drop
and forget,
to mock
and betray.

You are crushing your bloom
before it even opens;
leave it for another,
stop taunting it with the poisons
you use to drown it.
Let it smell sweet,
forget musk,
allow daylight to enter
its sleepless nights
and forget
the jade clothes you wear.
Back home!
