Hula Hoop

Twirl around her,
make her wonder
what is going on.

Laugh,
play,
tease--
she understands.

Not serious at all,
it's merely a game,
merely an amusement.
To her, it's her life.
To her, it's her leash on life.

She tugs,
she pulls,
she skips around the room,
but what is she really feeling
when you are
not around?

Too much time with you to analyze,
but too much time away,
and she feels cold
and scared.

Keep twirling,
she will try to remember what she is
to you,
which is really all she is,
in her mind.
