| Wah Lum Kung Fu offers a wide variety of training programs to allow members to become well rounded martial artists. Basic training includes Kung Fu exercises, fist-forms, weapons forms, self defense applications, free sparring, as well as the philosophical aspects of Wah Lum Kung Fu. Advanced training is also available for those who seek a higher level of knowledge and achievement. This may include advanced forms and weapons usage, advanced self defense and application techniques. There is no color- belt ranking in traditional Chinese Martial Arts. However, Wah Lum Kung Fu offers a certification-award system in which students will be certified to the levels he or she has accomplished. There are several levels of tests, starting at 10B. When students reach the 8th level, they are recognized as "above-average". They will be introduced to more advanced studies and training requirements. Advanced students may require a "Wah Lum Association Agreement" when they reach this level of skill. Each level testing may include, but is not limited to, the following categories: 1) Basics Exercise - ability of executing Wah Lum exercises. Written test - basic knowledge of Kung Fu and Wah Lum History. Oral test - interpretation of Wah Lum techniques & applications: *Long, short, hard, soft. *Long & short, short & soft, long & hard, short & hard. *Long hard defend, short soft defend, short hard attack, etc ... *Long hard defend followed by short hard attack, etc ... 2) Forms Execution of Wah Lum fist and weapon forms and their applications. 3) Defense/Sparring Execution of self defense techniques and the ability to defend and attack in a free sparring environment.
