Schumacher on track in Canada Bridgestone technical manager Hisao Suganuma professed to be "delighted" at Michael Schumacher's victory in Canada yesterday (Sunday), following the disappointment of a Michelin-shod victory for Ralf Schumacher the year before.

"After the disappointment of last year our engineers both in the UK and in Japan worked hard on finding the right tyres for this year's Canadian Grand Prix," the Japanese said in a press release.

"Naturally, I am delighted that effort has led to another win by Michael on Bridgestone tyres, especially since the tyre he used was the new one we developed especially for Montreal. It was a tough race for everybody but it was great to see Giancarlo also collecting more points.

"As well as saying well done to Michael and Rubens, Bridgestone also sends it congratulations to the Ferrari team for their 150th grand prix victory."

Ferrari technical director Ross Brawn was also thrilled to see his man come home first, although his lead over the final laps reduced from over twenty seconds to just 1.1 seconds.

"A very special victory for Ferrari and, for Michael, the perfect race!" the master tactician stated. "It was a tough grand prix and a little disappointing for Rubens whose strategy was spoiled by the safety car.

"The beginning of the race was difficult - we really did not know how it would evolve - but the Bridgestone tyres held up well. Michael's tyres were stronger as they progressed and Rubens's were a little stronger in the beginning."

Eddie Jordan, chief executive of the Jordan team, was also happy to see his points tally increase - even if it did mean another fifth place for Giancarlo Fisichella. "I don't want to say I am a little bit bored with two points but after having three of them in a row we would love to be a little bit higher!" he joked.

"We are thankful for what we have though. Giancarlo's driving is quite amazing at the moment. He is a super driver and hopefully we are inspiring him, he is certainly inspiring us. Motivation in the team is strong and long may it continue."
