Portfolio Assessment
What about Assessments?

Portfolio assessment is an essential component of the portfolio process.  Standards must be set and understood by students and evaluator.  It is important to note here that the evaluator should be a student before the teacher takes a look at the final product.  This should be an on-going process throughout the whole portfolio development.  It is amazing to see the constructive comments and technical assistance children offer each other during
this process.  It also allows children to use higher level thinking.  Portfolio assessment can be holistic, analytical, or primary.  Holistic examines the whole portfolio and rates skills without using a scale.  Analytical examines the portfolio
in parts and rates them on a scale.  Primary examines performance in one or more areas of concern.
