Re:Keeping in touch with the class of 1966
Hi,
Of course Harriet and I are planning to go to
Gally for the 35th class reunion. I am
still working at VSDB and have not decided to retire yet. Harriet is still working for the Staunton News Leader working as an ad designer on
the computer. I admit that I do not use e-mail every day since we are too busy
with our jobs. I just like to read and keep in touch with the class.
I think that e-mail is neat. See you soon.

Reunion
Hi, the Class of 1966
I have been retired from teaching for three years
after teaching at Arizona State Schools
for the Deaf and the Blind for 27 years, but I am back to teach there this year
for one year until they find a new teacher for the 2001-02 School Year.
Have two grown-up sons - one deaf and one hearing
and have a 5 years old hearing grandson. Been living in Tucson, Arizona for 30
years after teaching three years at Missouri School for the Deaf.
Many thanks for putting me on your e mail address.
Glad to hear from you about the reunion planned for the Fall of 2001. Have not
seen Gallaudet since I graduated. What a shame on me!
Please keep me posted about the plan of the
reunion. Thanks again.

Here goes!
Hello folks,
Here goes my first email to Gallaudet
egroups. Please let me know if this is
successful.
When you folks had a 25th reunion, I had just moved to Michigan to teach at the
Michigan School for the Deaf (I taught just about everything, coached track for
4 yrs, set up a school yard habitat, and set up a GLOBE site) and therefore
unable to attend! I had taught there
for 8 years, then an offer came to teach deaf at the elementary level in a
mainstream school in Klamath Falls, Oregon.
I had always wanted to move out west and got that opportunity. Unfortunately, there was a budget cut so my
teaching job only lasted one year.
Currently, I am unemployed and looking for any job (this just might
shoot my ability $$ wise to attend this 35th reunion-darn it...however, there
is always hope)!
My daughters, Joy is in Montana,
majoring in Environmental Biology and will graduate in May. She is changing careers and will attend a
chef school and become a chef in a restaurant. Grace, graduated with a Business
Law degree from Michigan State University, she has completed 8 months working
as an assistant cruise director on the Holland Cruise Line, and she is engaged
to a native from Bali, Indonesia. Ruth
is currently studying in Australia on a study abroad program. She will graduate with a Marine Biology
degree this coming May. Her future
plans is still up in the air.
My husband John is working as a Volunteer Cave
Specialist at the Lava Beds National Park in Tulelake, California. We just live 22 miles north of the California
State line.
That just about sums my life in a nutshell
although this is a brief version!
Have a great week!
Jonelle Davis Vargo
PS--I still ride horses whenever I can!

Re: [GallyClass66] Photos
Hello Henry.. My name is Charles Richard Howell
and I am one of the 1966 students. Therefore, we were classmates. Unfortunately, I am having a hard time
remembering you. What State were you from?
I am sorry I cannot place you just yet. Hopefully, I can recall you when
you let me know what state you were from..
As for myself I am originally from NC. However, during my freshman year my parents
moved to Tennessee. Yes, Hal Wright,
Philip Hailey, Edward Gobble were my classmates during High School. At present,
I am living in Michigan.
I think it is wonderful that everyone is getting
in touch with each other. For many of
us the years at Gally are full of memories and friends as well. Unfortunately, some of us have drifted away
from each other. Therefore, this is a
wonderful way to keep in touch. My
thanks to all that are playing a part in this.
Regards,
Charles Richard Howell

Greetings from Oregon!
Hello! My
name is Peggy (Mitchell) Wood. I wish
to congratulate and thank Jeanie (Ginsburg) for her wonderful job of reuniting us through email. I enjoy reading our classmates' emails and
seeing photos of Henry, Ed, Jim, and Janet.
All of you look great! Janet,
I'd forgotten how blue your eyes were.
I've lived in a beautiful country called Eagle
Creek with my husband Jack for the past 23 years. It is an one-hour drive
from Portland where I've worked in the Acquisitions Dept. at the Library
Administration for the Multnomah County Library for 7 years. Before that, I worked as a tutor and an
instructor to the deaf students at Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham for 5
years.
Jack and I hope to attend the Class of 1966
reunion next year. I'd be anxious to
see you all! For us, somewhere in the
Midwest seems to be more promising than Washington, D. C..
Peggy
