My ancestors came to Australia in the 1800 and 1900's from Denmark, England, Ireland and Scotland. Marianne Bentine BENTSON/BENDSEN was born 1846 in Sollerod, Kobenhavn, Denmark. Marianne migrated to Tasmania, Australia in 1872. She married Carl APPELDORFF, from Randers, Denmark. Marianes parents were Ole BENDTSEN/BENTZEN of Horsholm, Frederiksborg, and Karen RASMUSDATTER of Kundby, Holbaek, Denmark. The family lived in the Lyngby and Sollerod areas of Copenhagen. Oles parents were Bent OLSEN and Marie HANSDATTER who married in Horsholm in 1793. Karens were Rasmus JENSEN and Karen JORGENSDATTER who married in 1803. **(We have included a maternal line mt-DNA in the Danish Demes DNA Project.) William BRANNAN/BRENNAN and Jane FORBES, both from Ireland who married in Dundee, Forfar (Angus), Scotland in 1863. They later moved to Airdrie, Lanarkshire, Scotland. Brennans migrated to Western Australia in the 1920s. Patrick CARRUCAN and Bridget GORMAN were from the Doolin and Fanore area in County Clare, Ireland. They married abt 1829. Bridget and three children later migrated to Victoria, Australia in the 1850s. **(Results of a Y-DNA test have been included in the CORRIGAN DNA Project.) Jeoffrey ETCHES from Ashourne, Derbyshire, England, who married Alice BAGULEY in Newark Upon Trent, Nottinghamshire, England in 1701. Later generations lived in Winthorpe and Bathley, Nottinghamshire, England. My ancestors were living in Colchester, Essex, England by 1875. Samuel JAMES born in Little Bromley, Essex, England abt 1766, married Lucy JOWERS in Ardleigh, Essex, England in 1788. The James family continued to live in Ardleigh until the 1900s. My ancestors moved to Colchester, Essex, England abt 1850 **(Results on a Y-DNA test have been included in the JAMES Surname DNA Project and East Anglia Geographic DNA Project.) William MANLEY born 1804 in Crediton, Devon, England married Mary HOWARD of Drewsteignton, Devon in 1829. William, Mary and family migrated to Victoria, Australia in 1854. Williams parents, William MANLEY and Martha CAMPLIN were from Axminster, Devon, England. Marys parents, John HAYWARD and Jane STEPHENS were from Drewsteignton and Hittisleigh area of Devon. Thomas SEARLE born abt 1751 married Hannah GILBEY in Stanstead Mountfitchet, Essex, England in 1776. They later moved to Bishops Stortford, Hertfordshire, England. At least three of their grandchildren came to Australia as convicts. **(I am interested in testing for a Y-DNA on the SEARLE line for inclusion in a Surname DNA Project and Geographic Project. Any male Searle connected to this line who is interested, please contact Fran.) Joseph and Mary SCOWEN's son Phillip was born in Great Oakley, Essex, England in 1787. He married Mary SIMONS of East Donyland, Essex, England abt 1814. The family lived in the East Donyland and Wivenhoe area. Thomas Richard STREET of Fingringhoe, Essex, England, married Mary STARLING of Wivenhoe, Essex, England in 1815 in Wivenhoe. Their family lived in the Wivenhoe area. Patrick WHELAN and Margaret TOBIN were both born abt 1825 in Queens County (Laois), Ireland. They married abt 1845 and were living in Bathgate, Linlithgow (West Lothian), Scotland by 1850. Patrick�s parents were Hugh WHALIN and Elizabeth KEATEN, Margarets were James TOBIN and Elizabeth CARROL, all of Ireland.
