The 67th bus in the 600 series...counting 600.

"somebody go call the exorcist!!!"

Oh, my. As you might have guessed by now, the fleet number of this bus was 666. It was the 67th out of 110 AM Generals , numbered 600 through 709, that the MTA bought in 1976. During it's 3 years of use, it saw less road action then the 109 others because no one really wanted to drive it (duh).  If you read the title of the page, then you can see how it was lost. The bus was on the old route 63 (Now the 88 [?]) one day in 1979. It was going by Baptist Hospital (of course- don't you just LOVE irony???) when it caught fire. This is  regarded by some to be the most spectacular burning in MDTA history, due partly to the number of the bus and the name of the place where it burned. The only way it could've been any more fitting was if it burned in front of a church on a Sunday morning, or if it would've burned in front of Mercy Hospital. I don't know the extensiveness of the fire damage, but the bus was retired. This once again proves that here in Miami, wierdness is the order of the day.
