THE ROUTE ITSELF: This is the 79th Street bus. The only reason it's called the L and not the 79 is because it spends some time on the Beach. It must be some Federal Law that all buses operating on Miami Beach MUST be lettered or else the top people at MDTA will be sentenced to drive the last 62 bus on Saturday nights. Hee,Hee. The only numbered bus that touches the beach is a rush-hour only leg of the 62, and THAT is called the 62B.
Enough of my silly rants. The L is the 11 bus of the ghetto. It runs along 79th and runs every 5 seconds and is almost always an articulated bus. It crosses Biscayne Bay on the 3 Name Causeway. Those 3 names are: North Bay, 79th Street, John F. Kennedy. So far. When it enters the Beach and reaches Abbott or Harding or whatever it's called at that point, it turns right and drops south to the Lincoln Road Mall. The Westbound bus ends at either the Amtrak Station on NW 37 Ave. just above NW 74 St. or the Hialeah Metrorail Station At E 21 St. ( also NW 74 St.) and E. 1 Ave.
THAT'S IT??? Yes, Chester, that's it.Back when the Fishbowls were the lords of bus stop the L was a packed bus.Now it uses the 60 foot articulateds, which it share with the S. I've taken this bus before and it's not too bad.
