The Route This bus runs along 107th Avenue in West Dade. It begins at the big bus terminal at MDCC-Kendall, which is just off SW 104 St. near SW 107 Ave. It winds through the apartments south of the college. The it goes back up to 104th, then over to 107th Ave. where it hangs a left and goes up past SW 72 St. It goes over the Snapper Creek Canal, then turns left onto Snapper Creek Drive. It follows this residential street until it curves north to become SW 112 Ave. Continuing up 112th, it turns left at SW 32 St. , across from the Concord Shopping Center. It returns to 107th, where it makes a left and goes all the way up to W. Flagler St., where it heads west again to 112 Ave. It takes 112th up to NW 7 St., where it returns to 107th. It turns left again and goes up to about NW 12 St., where it enters the mall. At one time this bus used to continue south past the college to the Dadeland North Station. However, this segment was eliminated in November of 1993, and was replaced with the new route 104. This MDCC campus originally was called the South Campus, however with the 1993 opening of the new Homestead Campus, which was much farther south, it was renamed the Kendall campus. The buses just caught up with this, though. The bus also used to enter the FIU-South campus on SW 14 St., and would wind around to the bus terminal, however Metrobus was booted from there last summer and the terminal closed, so now it stays on 107th. This bus might need to be upgraded to every half hour during the rush, I've heard that it carries a standing load at times. |
