ACCELERATION

The formulas to do with acceleration are...

ACCELERATION

ACCELERATION = NEW SPEED - OLD SPEED
 TIME taken to change speed

NEW SPEED

If you want to know how fast a runner will be travelling after accelerating for a certain time...

NEW SPEED = (ACCELERATION x TIME) + OLD SPEED

DISTANCE

If you want to know how far a runner will go in a certain time when accelerating from standing start...

DISTANCE = 0.5 x ACCELERATION x TIME x TIME

AVERAGE SPEED

When a runner is accelerating their speed is changing, to find 'average' speed use...

AVERAGE SPEED = 0.5 x (OLD SPEED + NEW SPEED)
