At a Metallica concert, in 1990-1993, there really was such a thing as the "best seat in the house." The name of this was the "snakepit." The concept of the snakepit was developed by Peter Mensch(Metallica Management), after Continuously hearing Metallica frontman James Hetfield complain about being so far away from fans.

The snakepit turned out to be a perfect solution. Instead of fans being closer-they were on the stage! In the middle of the diamond shaped stage, the snakepit rested. Often mistakend as a moshpit, the snakepit was simply a place for 150-200 fans to stand and better interact with the greatest band in the world.

So far, the snakepit has only accompanied Metallica on the Wherever I may Roam/Nowhere Else to Roam tours. The snakepit also made an appearance on the short M2K Tour. With Metallica's highly anticipated studio album on the brink of completion, and tourdates planned for 2003, there is not a better time than now for the snakepit to return. However, don't you think the snakepit should be accompanied by the best fans in the world-The METALLICA FANCLUB MEMBERS??? I sure do. If you agree, please vote below, and sign the guestbook to let me know who you are. Who knows, you may be helping to establish THE CLUBBERS ONLY SNAKEPIT. By the way, if your not a member of the Metallica club, you can join by clicking the logo below. To return home, click the Live Shit box at the top.
