HERTWIG & Co.
Large Black Stallion
Pictures do not do this beauty justice!
This impressive stallion stands 9.75" tall
and was made in Germany by Hertwig & Co., also known as "Katzhutte".  We do not
know when it was produced, but we believe
it to be circa 1940's.  This is the only black Hertwig we have ever seen--most are bay.
Large Prancing Bay Stallion
This is another very rare large-sized Hertwig horse.  He stands 12" tall, is very deeply glazed, and his massive stance and fine features cannot be fully appreciated in these photos. He has the old Hertwig house logo and "Eastern Germany" stamped underneath.  He also has a "Niagra Falls" sticker still intact on top of the base, so was probably sold as a souvenir there many many years ago.
Small Draft Horse
This is a smaller Hertwig draft horse mare.  Although it is unmarked, it has been confirmed to be Hertwig by others who own the same exact horse that is marked.  She stands about 5.5" tall.
Large Standing Bay Mare
This large Hertwig mare stands 10" tall and is marked with the Hertwig logo and "Eastern Germany" underneath the base as shown to the right.  I think she goes nicely with the bay prancing stallion.
