What's a Skink?
Webster's Dictionary reads: any of a family of pleurodont lizards, mostly small with small scales
Doesn't really say much, does it? And don't you dare ask me what 'pleurodont' means.

Anyway, a skink is a lot like a lizard, except they are very smooth and much faster. There are tons of different kinds of skink, but the most well-known in these parts is the five-striped skink. They get to be 5-6 inches long and are black with five bronze stripes running from their nose-tip to their tail, which is bright blue.

They eat bugs, worms, and stuff like that and are most often found living near swamps. I'm not sure, but I think they are also called the blue-tailed skink.
