| On April 5th, 2004, Nugget was put to sleep. He had developed edema as a result of a tumor growing in his left rear leg. Doctors said the prognosis was bleak and that there was not much that could be done to reverse the condition. I made the decision after considering the options and coming to the realization that, while I wanted very badly to keep him around as long as I could, it wasn't fair to him as he was hobbling around and having trouble completing simple tasks like standing from a sitting position. This was the hardest decision I'd ever had to make and immediately I regret it but I think it was what was best for Nugget. And now it's done and I'm struggling but I know I have to move on. Rest in peace, Nugget, may heaven await... God, I miss him already... 4 / 5 / 04 |
