REVIEW IN ROLLING STONE *** (3
Stars)
gODHEAD - 2000 Years of Human Error
The Cycle of Gothic-industrial life continues: As Trent
Reznor discovered Marilyn Manson, so Manson
now midwives gODHEAD. With 2000 Years of Human Error =
the band's fourth album overall, and the first disc on
Manson's new Posthuman label - gODHEAD crunch guitars and
act like pariahs, just like their forefathers. On
"The Reckoning," singer Jason Miller
ridicules the effect of organized religion; "I Hate
Today" reaffirms the group's outsider status. But
gODHEAD's stash of smart musical touches proves they're
more than Manson's Mini-Me. On "Break You
Down," a well-placed harmonica bleat stretches the
tension like taffy. "Inside You" grafts Prodigy
big beats and Pearl Jam riffs onto an industrial throb.
And the band inhabits its cover of "Eleanor
Rigby" like a parasite, feeding off the song's
inherent creepiness and turning "look at all the lonely
people" into a rally for the goth masses. - Chris
Nelson - February 15, 2001

REVIEW IN CMJ
gODHEAD - 2000 Years of Human Error
Black duds, pale makeup and electronica aside, gODHEAD
is simply a rock band with a few gimmicks - the most
crucial being the Washington, D.C., quartet's status as Marilyn
Manson's first client on his Posthuman label.
Needless acts of subterfuge aside, Jason Miller's vocals
are more melodic, if not stronger, than fellow
electro-metal singer Jay Gordon's heavily enhanced purrs
or Richard Patrick's manic shouts. His range and tones
unfold on the pensive "Tired Old Man," where he
admits, "I'm so tired of living here/ I'm so tired
of giving here." It's a line that epitomizes the
refreshing repertoire of sadness found throughout this
11-track major-label debut. Industrial keys and blips are
clearly not an afterthought on 2000, and guitarist Mike
Miller shows up not so much to carry each track as to
offer depth where needed - especially on "I Sell
Society" and "I Hate Today." Nothing here
catapults Godhead into the cutting-edge bin. But if
you're looking for a rocking, less obtrusive goth outfit,
it's right here. - Dylan P. Gadino: CMJ New Music Report
Issue: 699 - Jan 29, 2001

LA TIMES REVIEW FOR gODHEAD'S "2000 Years
of Human Error"
The first release from Marilyn Manson's new label comes
from a similarly goth-y Washington, D.C., quartet. Filled
with menacing electronic grooves in the vein of Orgy and
Nine Inch Nails, its debut is a fiendish fusion of
industrial aggression and melodic ambience. Pulsating
rhythms, stirring vocals (no ranting here) and diverse
tunes (even a version of "Eleanor Rigby")
amount to the kind of dark and sultry record M.M. should
have put out himself, but didn't. ***
Albums are rated on a scale of one (*) star (poor), two
(**) stars (fair), three (***) stars (good) and four
(****) stars (excellent).

Jason Miller Plays With Robert Smith & Reeves
Gabrels
Reeves
Gabrels, recently lent his hands in the guitar area
for the recording of Godhead's debut on Posthuman
Records. Gabrels has been working hard on his solo
record, since then, and has two special guests on one
track. Cure frontman Robert Smith lends
lead vocals for the song "Yesterday's Gone".
Jason Miller has also joined the duo on the track
recording the back up vocals. The track has been made
available online at www.icast.com. To
download the song visitors must play Gabrels'
"Scared Squall Of Now" or "Night In
America" via the iCASTER, a multimedia player
offered at the site.

Posthuman Records premier recording artist'
Godhead is currently adding the final touches to their
debut CD. The record looks like it will be released
sometime in January and will be titled, "2000
Years of Human Error". All producing aspects for
the record have been arranged by the hands of Danny
Saber (Garbage, Michael Hutchence, David Bowie, Black
Grape, and Ozzy Osbourne). Expect several surprises from
the recording as other Manson members are composing with
the band, as well, ex-Bowie guitarist Reeves
Gabrels has been hired to electrify their studio
performance. The band consists of Jason Miller
(vocals and guitar), The Method (programming and
bass), Mike Miller (guitar and vocals) and James
O'Connor (drums). The band formed in the early 90's
and has release two previous records on their own. They
have toured the US and Europe extensively sharing stages
with The Misfits, Sister Machine Gun, Karen Black,
Monster Magnet, and more.
The Los
Angeles Times notes, "Godhead is all about the
delicate balance between seemingly opposing elements:
techno-derived beats, keyboards, and programming against
'real' drums, guitars, and bass; industrial noise beside
pop song craft; and metal guitar riffage aligned with
somber ambient textures. Live, the band really
smokes."
