THE MOON
My off the grid camp
1953 New Moon Trailer
I purchased this in 2006 and installed it at the camp site on Dotyville Road. The site for many years held an old brown travel trailer and two school buses welded togather that someone had been using for a camp. I had never seen anybody there since my family first lived in the area in the late 70's.
The Water Company
These are the cisterns I put in for the family trailer in 1990. The family trailer is just up the hill from The Moon. I had to dig and bury 300 feet of water line for the project. this is in conjunction with the 5 by five by four foot hole I dug to bury the old underground fuel tank that I use for a septic system.
The Power Company
Having wired the entire Moon for a 12 volt system I installed an 80 Watt solar panel to power the lights, radio, pump and TV. I got it off Ebay for about 200 dollars.
Off the grid means wood heat
For hot water I then installed a tankless hot water heater. It works like a charm.
This picture shows the new lights, the radio and the solar panel charge controler.
