FREQUENTLY PHOENETICIZED FISK QUESTIONS
Q: Where did Fisk get his name?
A: I misdialed one day when calling a friend and reached the answering machine of a guy with a dog named Fisk.  The message said, "Please leave a message or Fisk will be VERY...VERY...angry [small dog barks]"  I liked the message and the name.  I had wanted a short, but distinctive name for my pupper.  Some people have assumed Fisk was named after the baseball legend Carlton Fisk.  While that isn't the case, Carlton was a
Boston Red Sox catcher and my favorite ball player as a kid!
A hot dog, or a pig in a blanket.
Q: Why is fisk so wobbly?
A: After many people had asked me this, I had my vet check it out.  Just from close observation he concluded that Fisk had a balance problem caused by either a brain malformation or water on the brain at birth.  He said it will not worsen, and is no cause for concern.  It does mean that Fisk will always be somewhat clumsy when playing or jumping.  Fisk certainly doesn't seem to feel impaired!

A Word On Dog Breeding
While Boston terriers are a wonderful breed, this site is not intended to encourage dog breeding of any sort.  To do so would be inexcusable when 17 million unwanted cats and dogs are euthanized in shelters every year in the United States.  Please adopt from a shelter or go through a breed rescue.  Fisk was found through the rescue listings on the site Bostons in Common.  Visit that link for a wealth of resources on finding a Boston who needs a home.  Better yet, visit a shelter, and pick any dog in need that suits your home.  Animals are individuals with their own worth and needs, not ours to breed in puppy mills, raise and slaughter for food or clothing, hunt for sport, or experiment on.
