Postdoctoral Position in Neuroethology - Department of Biology - University of Utah
A position is immediately available for a postdoctoral fellow to study odor-mediated behavior and the neurobiology of olfactory discrimination in two closely-related species of moth.  Research will involve wind tunnel bioassays to determine odor blends most attractive to male moths in conjunction with neurophysiological studies of the moth antennal lobe to ascertain how odor blends are represented and processed in the primary olfactory neuropil.  A Ph.D. or equivalent degree in a biological science or a related field is required.
Prior experience with intracellular recording and staining of neurons within the central nervous system is preferred. To apply, send CV to Dr. Neil Vickers by e-mail ([email protected]) or letter (Department of Biology, University of Utah, 257 South 1400E Rm. 201, Salt Lake City, UT 84112) including names, telephone numbers, and e-mail addresses of 3 references. The initial appointment will be for 1 year with the possibility of an additional two years of support. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.

Postdoctoral Research Position - Henry Ford Hospital Detroit, Michigan

Applications are invited for two NIH-funded postdoctoral research position (minumum 2 years) in the Department of Neurogastroenterology Research. One position is available immediately in Dr. W.E.Renehan's lab. One position will be available in Spring 2000 in Dr. R.A. Travagli's lab.
The successful candidate will join a team (3 faculty, 5 postdocs, 2 postgraduate medical residents and 1 technician) using a range of electrophysiological (
patch clamp in thin slices and in primary neuronal cultures, intracellular sharp electrodes in thin slices, in vivo intracellular recording), pharmacological and immunohistochemical techniques to examine the central control of gastrointestinal function and feeding behavior.

Experience in Electrophysiology and/or pharmacology is preferred but not essential. A good working knowledge of English is required.  Salary is commensurate with experience. Medical, vision and dental benefits and retirement plans are included.

POSITION IN GUSTATORY NEUROBIOLOGY
available immediately to study functional organization of brainstem gustatory nuclei.  Experiments in NIDCD-sponsored projects focus on topographic segregation and convergence in the processing of taste and oral
somatosensory information and their relationship to efferent circuitry and neurotransmitter phenotype.  Additional studies focus on brainstem circuits mediating ingestion and rejection responses and peptide modulation of motor
patterns elicited by gustatory stimuli.
Experience in neurophysiology, immunohistochemistry, or in situ hybridization desirable.  Send or e-mail your research interests, vitae to Dr. Susan Travers ([email protected] ) or
Dr. Joseph Travers ([email protected]), Section of Oral Biology, College of Dentistry, Ohio State University, 305 W12th Ave, Columbus OH.  43210.

Feb. 2, 2000
Two postdoc positions are open.  One is to combine patch clamp and calcium imaging methods to study the functions of olfactory bulb dendrites and dendrodendritic synapses. The other is to develop transgenic mice for analyzing how odor signals are coded and processed through the olfactory bulb circuits.  Please send a CV and reference letters to Dr. Wei R. Chen at the following address: Wei R. Chen, Ph.D. Yale University Section of Neurobiology 333 Cedar Street, C303 SHM New Haven, CT 06520-8001
