Cast&Crew-The Rock(Mathayus), Michael Clarke Duncan(Balthezar), Grant Heslov(Memnon), Kelly Hu(Cassandra) and Director Chuck Russell.
After the success of the Mummy and the Mummy Returns, Universal Pictures decided they could capitalize on this successful series with a spinoff starring WWF star "the Rock" as an ancient Egyptian looking to avenge the death of his brothers and save the nearby tribes. While anyone can see in the trailers that the Scorpian King is not Shakespearian drama, this so called action movie packs less punch than a 95 year old man with osteoporosis.
The Scorpian King is plagued by a variety of problems. Bad acting, poor plot, pathetic fight scenes, and cheesy special effects are all detractors. The major problem in the film is that Dewayne Johnson aka "I can't act to save my life" acts as well in this movie as a block of wood. In fact, everybody in this movie, including the usually reliable Micheal Clarke Duncan, is horrid.
It also doesn't help that the plot has more holes than a drive-by victim. This is apparent in too many cases too name them all. For one thing, no matter how hard Memnom(Heslov), the Rock's enemy, tries to kill Mathayus(Rock). Whether planting him in the ground to get eaten by an army of ants (which is never explained how the Rock makes it out) or getting shot with 20 arrows the Rock will not stop fighting till the screen is barren of bad guys. In one sequence the Rock whipes out ten enemies by himself and your wandering is this guy human.
This type of uber man taking on his enemies and defeating them while saving the beautiful girl plot has been retread more times than twenty year old Goodyear tires. It makes you wander if the writers who wrote this story were lucid at the time they wrote this crap.
This movie proves that Hollywood executives will greenlight anything in hopes that the public will blindly go see it. Avoid this mindless garbage like it was the plague.
