More Summer Movies Redman Was Too Lazy to Review

Austin Powers in Goldmember-(out of 5)-The third installment of the swingin secret agent has a been there done that quality to it. That said Mike Myers is still funny, especially as Goldmember. Some characters are wearing thin (i.e. Fat Bastard and Mini Me). Also I was not too impressed by Beyonce Knowles acting as Foxxy Cleopatra. Despite the jokes being more recycled than twenty year old plastic, Goldmember is still the funniest movie of an otherwise humorless summer. Reviewed on 9/29

Road to Perdition--In my opinion,Road to Perdition was the second best film of the summer (behind Minority Report). Tom Hanks gives yet another stellar performance. So does Paul Newman. Jude Law, one of the best actors out there, is awesome when he appears on screen. Was there anything you didn't enjoy about this film? Actually no except the fact I had to travel sixty miles to see it. It was well worth it though. If you haven't seen this stylish gangster flick rent it when it makes its way to video/dvd. Signs--Seeing Director M. Night Shymalan's first two films (the Sixth Sense and Unbreakable) I kind of knew what to expect with this one. That could have been a problem if not for the fine acting and creepy vibe of the movie. Mel Gibson does a good job conveying the bitterness of a man who has just lost his wife. It is his finest movie since Braveheart. Rory Culkin and the little "Kirsten Dunst" (I think she looks like a 4 year old version of the Spiderman star) are truly scary and bring a little unexpected humor to the film. The problem with the movie is Shymalan took the easy way out with the ending. Also like I implied in the opening sentence it is time he does a movie that isn't a supernatural thriller. Variety is the spice of life or so they say. Reviewed on 9/29

XXX--This highly anticipated film turned out to be one big train wreck. It tries ripping off James Bond and ends up with a Red Dog instead of a vodka martini. Vin Diesel is disappointing as the star of this movie. After enjoying the Fast and the Furious, I thought I would like this movie. Boy was I wrong. The other characters are not worth mentioning. This movie actually had me longing for the new James Bond joint (ode to Spike Lee) while I was still in the theater. This trailer trash was that bad. By the way, JB's 20th installment Die Another Day, opens on my birthday, November 22. Reviewed on 9/29.
