Yellowtail Barracuda Sphyraena flavicayda Sphyraenidae[Barracudas] 32 cm [max to 60 cm] 3.6 cm Marine Bay, lagoons, seaward reefs. Usually in schools. Hardly available. Taste similar to those "Halfbeaks" Unlikely but found in nearby M'sia waters. The one found here is the "Pickhandle Barracuda[Sphyraena jello]" Body with 2 brown, brownish yellow or golden longitudinal stripes but it may fade off in adults. The "pickhandle Barra" have numerous fade dark bars vertically crossing the lateral line whereas this one don't. |
