What comes around goes around in this spinning wheel of yet another of Marsh's wacky tales set in Northwest Arkansas. If you've read the first two books of this zany trilogy -- Hog Lick, AR and Cozenage -- you'll have a fair idea of what to expect.
The stable of usual suspects assemble to ponder their futures after pulling off the mother of all scams and choose their different paths to happiness.
Stanley Sneedle, the prophetic thinker of the outfit, connives with Boddie, the inept deputy sheriff, and Jasper, the resident curmudgeon, to wheedle their way into major league sports, where their take on salary caps and just how the game should be played...
JB_E (alias "Tinky"), an erudite lummox, and Moanika, a miscreant hedonist, go to the Big Apple to make more money and mischief inside the "talk radio" circus.
Ichy, the crafty politician, wields his Executive Power with both hands with both domestic and international repercussions. His #2 guy, Packy, failed terrorist and converted patriot, has to restrain some of Ichy's more bizzare thinking.
Roscoe, Stanley's scruffy older brother, settles down with his gaudy girlfriend, Rhodenta Sue, in the mythical town which provides the title for the book... The town, it's history and residents add some color as well.
The ending may surprise you, but this is not heavy reading by any stretch. The fun -- and there is plenty -- is more in the ride than in the arrival at the end of the road.
Mike has always thought outside the box -- but now he's gone over the side of the table. Cutting humor.
