Gudon are common and plentiful in a lot
waters and therefore are a natural prey fish for pike in those waters they
are a small bait properly the fresh water equivalent of the sprat
although i have not seen them available commercially they are very easy to
catch (remember those days as a kid ). |
|
Eel common in every water and a natural
food source they can be brought easily from your bait shop or caught or
trapped usually fished in sections this can be an excellent bait on some
waters. |
|
The roach properly most common live and dead
bait used by pike fishermen it is common in 99% of waters and is
easily obtainable either commercially or can be caught but you should be careful
when using as live bait as some waters have a total ban on live baits and
some will only allow the use of live baits caught on that water due to the
risk of introducing diseases |
|
The perch not a common bait among pike
anglers but can give good results being a common fish in most waters it is
again a natural food supply it is also makes a very active and hardy live
bait again it is available commercially or can be caught easily. |
|
Trout our experience with this bait is
that it fishes well on some waters and not on others it is available
commercially although it can be caught on some waters most take a dim view
of this so you are normally better of buying them |

Other small pike make excellent dead or
live bait although i have not seen them available commercially they can be
caught using worm or minnow as bait |
