US Team Championships 2002

The United States Match Fishing Team Championships

The event took place on August 3rd and 4th, on Little and Big Bear Lakes in Vernon Hills, Illinois. The two lakes that we fished are connected but are quite different in size, depth and water color. On each day we had 2 sections on each of the two lakes. The main species were bluegills and carp. The methods that dominated the match were whip fishing for bluegills, long pole for both bluegills and carp, and also waggler and feeder for carp. On day one section A was won by Derek Aniolkowski who fished long pole for bluegills and then for bonus carp. Section B was wan By Peter Wolan with 6 lbs. of bluegills caught on long pole. Section C was was by Tony Forte with over 11 lbs of mostly bluegills while in section D, Robert Wolan won catching bluegills and bonus carp for nearly 20 lbs. After the first day Finesse Team CBA was leading with just 5 penalty points. On day two, Peter Wolan won section A with bluegills and bonus carp that were caught on long pole and then on waggler in the last hour of the match. In section B, Patrick Mills secured a section win with couple carp caught on the feeder.  Section C was won by Derek Aniolkowski with 9 small carp and some bits mostly caught with long pole fished at 13 meters.  Section D was won by Libby Stull with over 10 lbs. of bluegills.  Finesse Team CBA collected only 6 penalty points on day two and secured the US Team Championships Title. This was a very exciting event and we hope to see more teams sign up in the future.
