Match 9
Volcening Lake, Hoffman Estates, IL. November 11, 2007.

Notes: Small carp from .25 to 2 lbs made the bulk of the catch with just few bullheads mixed in. Long pole was the winning method, with
few fish also being caught on the method feeder (Bob A.). Maggots and corn fished over groundbait were used for baits.
The winning rig: .25 Tipo float, .14 line, size 14 Kamassan B611 hook, gray hydro.

Naperville Police Station, Naperville, IL. July 21, 2007.

Notes: The water level in this pond was a lot higher than normal, some anglers were setting up in the flooded grass to get closer
to the "real" shoreline. Small bluegills provided early action for most and it was possible to catch them very close to the shore.
After a while first carp started showing up and they became the main target.  Derek caught 17 carp to take first place, while Elise
had 12 carp for second. Corn fished over groundbait feed was the main approach with a long pole, 9-10 meters out, in 6-7 ft of water.
The winning rig: .75 gram Drennan Tipo, .18 line, size 13 B711 hook, black hydro.  

Match 3
Lincoln Park Lagoon, Chicago, IL. May 19, 2007.

Notes: Even though there were some excellent weights, nobody came close to this venue's potential "ton" (100 lbs). The start of
the match was very slow and it wasn't until the second hour that first carp started showing up. Like usually at this venue, carp
were the main target. It was clear that most fish were showing up in the lower numbered pegs with all the high weights coming from
pegs 1 through 4. Paul Wells won the match fishing the long pole at 7-8 meters with corn on the hook.
 

Match 2
Barth Pond, Downers Grove, IL. April 29, 2007.

Notes: The water was high and stained and after a slow start everyone started getting few fish.  It was not a typical "speed fishing"
contest like it may be expected on the Barth.  Penny Smit got the win with over 20 lbs of mostly bluegills. Penny kept the fish coming
steadily for most of the 4-hour match. Peter  finished second and Elise third, also with bluegills and small bullheads dominating their catch.
Paul Wells was the only angler who caught a carp.  Patrick and Trevor went all out for bonus fish on the long pole and both managed to
catch few catfish.      
 

Match 1
Chicago River, Chicago, IL. March 31, 2007.

Notes: It was cold, the river flew fast and the water was very clear - all together making for very tough fishing in this season opener. 
Derek Aniolkowski, fishing from the upstream end peg, caught 2 carp with a long pole and a 10 gram flat float with maggots on a size 12 hook. 
Peter Wolan was second catching few nice bluegills with long pole and round bodied float with maggots on the hook. Bob Andrews landed a bonus
gold fish and finished third.
The winning rig: 10 gram Torpedo flat float, .24 -.22 lines, size 12 Kamasan Animal hook, red hydro.
