Fairhaven Day
June 6 is the date of this annual event. Lots of help is needed beginning at 8 AM. Help with the lunch beginning at 10 AM. Great opportunity to learn how your club serves the community and to log some work hours. All ranges will be closed during this event.
Fairhaven day was started July1982 by Pete Breadlove and
a group of men from our club who felt everyone remembers the
Handicapped at Christmas. So we started it as Christmas in July.
Prizes were 25 to 50 cents. In 1986 Shirley Williams became chairman
and changed it by getting donations from bussiness and Individuals.
Attendence has gone fron 25 or 30 people to 80 to 100 people.
Due to Shirley's illiness in 1998 Dr. Steve Watts took over as chairman
and is still chairman.
Fair Haven Day is and outing for the mentally and physically
handicapped of the area. They fish for prizes and trophies. At noon
they are served lunch, consisting of hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad,
baked beans, pizza, potato chips, pretzels, cookies, watermellon and
beverage
In the afternoon each person receives a gift and are also
eligible for door prizes.
They are intertained by either clowns or amagician or sone
group.
We try to have ball caps and pens, pencils, etc for goody bags.
Donations always appreciated.
