Haiku

Sitting on the porch
So many margaritas
Limes and limes and limes

Most things stay the same
I live in apartment K
I still get hungry

Haiku and Haiku
All day and all night, haiku
Too short to make sense

The little gray cat
Plays inside bags and boxes
She chases my feet

I miss my mother
I wanted a birthday cake
I didn't get one

Haiku is a structured form of poetry when the syllables of the lines count 5, 7, 5. I write haiku when I'm tired because it's all I can do sometimes. Our first assignment was to write 5 haikus. These five were rewrites of things I'd written over the summer.
