size: the male grows to about 3.5 cm and the female can grow to up to 6 cm

diet: these fish are omnivorous so they will accept small live food, frozen live food and flakes

water conditions: they prefer a ph level of around 7.0 - 8.0 and a temperature of 20' - 26' degrees Celsius

swimming level: these fish will mostly swim around the middle area of the tank but will tend to feed on the top.

breeding: these fish are livebearers so they just give birth to the young when ready.

The platy is a great fish for the beginner hardy and easy to maintain, they now come in varied colours thanks to the specialist breeding. a perfect fish to be kept in a community tank as it gets along easily with other fish of its size, although also spectacular by themselves. when the platy's mate they can have up to 80 fry at one time which will be born after about 3-4 weeks.
