Not an easy task but a fun one nether the less, I am just starting this project now 5th January 2006 so I have not seen anything happen yet and it may take a few days but I'm watching with close content to see what happens and I'm keeping record of every little detail as time goes and I hope all goes well with my little hatchery I made up that I found from books and other websites on the net. just in case any people out there wish to try this ill give you the information I have found and draw you a diagram so that you to can have a try yourself and maybe even have better luck than me.
first things first you need these items and to be able to tolerate noise at night (if you set it up in your room):
so first you set it up like so:
There's
the tubing through the lid of the screw top (none metal) lid, connected to the
tubing inside the bottle is the airstone which is later connected to a pump
(which should be done but harder to draw up) to siphon the air through the water
to create a flow for the brine shrimp to move around in (they are in egg form at
the start and those specks are them) when the lets say the contraption is made
you should add 5g per 200 ml of salt (now you can work out your own estimate for
that if you decide to go bigger and have a 1.25 litre bottle perhaps full of
these), and for the brine shrimp eggs its completely up to you how many you put
in as there is so many suggestions I cant tell you but my estimate is just a
pinch full for your first try and go bigger with time if it all goes well. now
if you do do this then its said you should have them heated and have light on
them at all time and even to never have the flow of the airstone turned off but
i am trying another approach and seeing if it just takes a little longer without
those on all the time it may be my first time but I have enough eggs to last a
while so I've got a few chances to make it right and when I do ill be sure to
tell you all about it! that's a promise. and last but not least this should take
up to or more than 4 days to accomplish a nice group of baby brine shrimp I'm
not exactly sure how to keep them alive and feed and grow then but there still a
tasty treat to any fish even if they are small. remember if you have any
questions at all about the above go to contact the link on my home page and send
me an email and ill tell u in an easier way or just give u a link to someone
else's website for better reference.
