A very important part of the day and you need to remember this one above almost everything cos its wrong to lets animals suffer in any way. so first things first most fish are omnivorous and will accept flake foods, pellets, or some sort of live food and these are all great but too much of one and your fish are capable of dying, I just had a problem recently where one of my angels in my community tank ate more than its belly could handle because its the largest of the fish and bosses the others and it got very fat and this was very noticeable from its before stage of very thing and circular now it was like a bubble but because I knew it ate too much I fed it small amount over the next few days making sure all the other fish got the same amount but the angel would not get to any of the food and as time progresses the angel went back to normal and became quite thin and enjoyable yet again to look at. I tend to feed my fish about a pinch full three times a day of flake but if I have live food I give them some of that and one or two lots of flake only, I also add half a algae chip in during the day and one at night so that the fish at the bottom get the right amount of foods as well. Now some people say that the feeding times are important I disagree as fish in the wild have to fend for themselves and hunt/search for there food and sometimes the times of meals is quite off so I believe that you give them food when you give it to them spanning it out a little and giving them the right amounts is necessary. now the most important thing about feeding is always check after wards the leftovers and if there's heaps never feed them that much and try to remove some as its becomes heavy amounts of algae quite quickly and if you like looking at your healthy fish you don't want a big build up of algae in your tank now don't remove all your algae when you see it as plants and fish such as catfish live off this and find it as a treat to have grown algae instead of supplements from a bottle all the time, remember when setting up a tropical tank it best to make it as realistic as possible for your fish to feel safe and for them to look spectacular. ok now I'm not going to get into all the types of live food but the two main ones are blood worms and brine shrimp and you can find these in most aquariums and you can even breed brine shrimp and if you search my info page on my website you'll find a whole page on that giving you diagrams and tips on how to do it.
