| The first man presented with physical concerns Timothy worked with in the chair using simple relaxation breathing and hands on techniques. The older gentleman we laid on the mat. He presented with pain in knees and legs. Timothy and Dhamodyran worked with him also. First woman- complete body ache, sore arms and shoulder, tsunami related Hands on therapy with massage, breathing, guided relaxation, positive suggestion and visualizations of healing, wellness and safety. Dhamodyran translated our sessions going between Timothy and I. And we would of course have asked permission to touch , including the head, arms, hands and feet primarily. After the initial 3 nurturing sessions in which there were several villagers watching we had a succession of people that wanted care, totaling around 20. Although we do not have all the separate accounts, I believe they were mostly women except for 2 more men, one of which presented with a sore shoulder which we were able to use our tiger balm on and one complaining of a sore leg and knee. A brick was thrown against it in the tsunami. Timothy worked on both these cases. with some good relief and suggestions for home care and medical follow up. There was also a small boy with a sore arm and tsunami related trauma and Timothy did a visualization for releasing fear and of playing with his friends and feeling safe and strong again. And , also with home care suggestions and follow up. We had one woman come in who had put her back out and we both worked with her with messages of relaxation, pain control and healing. We had her family put ice on her back on return and continue with messages of healing and hands on and a suggestion to also seek medical advice. With most of the other women we were able to see a pattern of symptoms arising, which we believe were tsunami trauma and stress related, except for those that actually were tumbled in the water and were hit or banged by something and still having problems with arms or legs related to that. Or actual chest infections etc. This pattern we were to see over and over again in all the villages we visited in South India. The repetitive symptoms were: complete body ache, headache, face ache, chest ache, and insomnia. And the trauma of course included the fear of another tsunami, being close to losing ones life and losing loved ones. memories and dreams of the tsunami, recurring thoughts and fears and sounds and images from the tsunami. And grief from losing loved ones, losing property and livelihoods, and of being displaced in many cases. And of surviving through it and then having to figure out how to survive all over again. Here are some other separate accounts from that evening: Elderly woman: body ache, toothache Used our similar techniques and releasing heat and pain. In the arm relaxing procedure, her daughter came in to help and copied our arm relaxing with her so that was good to see. Timothy explained to her afterwards that she could help in these ways at home when people were in distress. This woman went particularly deep in trance and I had to teach our translator the awakening procedure in more detail which he did superbly and she awakened exactly on cue. We suggested to her to obtain dental treatment and medical advice if necessary and we asked her family to continue with suggestions of health and healing and with gentle massage. One woman had been swept up in the waves and overturned several times. A young woman came to see us. At the time of the tsunami she was running away from it with her babies. Imagined her mind like a bird free to a safe place and she imagined a beautiful parrot that was telling her her family was safe and well. Her mother presented with the complete body ache Other women presented with body aches, headaches, aching around eyes, chest aches, insomnia and a lot of emotional fears and griefs etc. We worked with our techniques on all these women and more and sometimes Timothy would play the flute as a soothing and peaceful technique. We stayed until dark and finally had to pack up. Home India Outreach |
