| FIRST INN 0 WHITE HART 5 |
| First paid the price for a lack of strikepower as they fell to a 5-0 defeat at the Showfield on Sunday. A slightly weakened White Hart defence were rarely tested and even when they fell behind on 20 minutes with Steve Waring on target, First were reluctant to push men forward. A strong challenge saw Darren Wright limp off the field in the first half, with Ant Hunter, slightly suprisingly considering the scoreline, replacing him. This meant two right-sided players occupied the left side of the field in what was quite a defensive move. Skipper Howard waited and waited and finally introduced Grisedale inside the last 10 minutes after Hart virtually sealed victory with a second. First heads went down and Jackson was chipped twice in a frantic finale which saw 3 more goals added by the visitors. The score finally finishing 5-0 and despite Fleece's victory over Friendship on the other pitch, with just Egton to play, First are all but assured to finish bottom of the table. Jackson, C.Headlam, Usher, Thomas, Steele, Owen, Wright(Hunter), Howard, Abbott(Grisedale), Webster, M Headlam. Subs not used: Snaith. Man Of The Match: Adam Steele- Solid on his return to the back four. |
